Admission to our monthly Family Movie Theater Nights is always FREE and open to the community. Doors open at 6:00pm with the movie starting at 6:30pm on Saturday, January 28th, 2012.
Concessions will be available at a nominal cost, with all proceeds benefitting our outreach programs.
About the Movie:
Kung Fu Panda 2 is a continuation of the first movie and Po is part of the Dragon Warrior team. Po's skills are improving but he is still not the master that Tigress is for example. His master tells him that he has to learn to focus and learn inner peace. Po's tactic is to charge into the fight instead of developing a strategy and analyzing the enemy.
An evil warrior enemy is threatening to take over all of China and when his evil warriors start to steal materials to make a secret weapon the Dragon Warrior team jumps in to stop them. When Po sees the warriors he starts having flashbacks about his origins and where he came from. This causes a lack of self-confidence and this is exactly what Po does not need when confronting a powerful enemy.
This is a good storyline with Good facing Evil and how Po must be brave and find his inner self to become the warrior he needs to be to defeat his enemy.
Background of Our Community Movie Theater:
The Rochester Community Movie Theater was started in March of 2011. A group of people at Rochester United Methodist Church recognized that the cost of a family outing has become increasingly expensive. Our focus is to fill the need of affordable activities for families to enjoy time together. We realized that our big screen projector and sizeable room with darkening shades is perfect for a theater venue.
So, for the cost of gas to get to downtown Rochester, a family can come get lost for a few hours in a delightful, quality movie. In addition, food and snacks are available at very reasonable prices thanks to our sponsors who help support this evening out (popcorn & water $1, other concessions prices as marked). The movie theater is open on the last Saturday of each month.
